Osteopathy is not covered by OHIP but it is included in many, but not all, extended healthcare benefit packages. Unfortunately, coverage is complicated. This is in part because osteopathy is not yet a regulated health profession in Ontario, which gives insurance companies the right to choose which colleges and associations they wish to cover. So even if your benefits through your employer include coverage for osteopathy, it is important to check that they cover the college and/or association your manual osteopath belongs to. Lisa belongs to many colleges/associations, both provincial and national, to try to include all insurance companies and have broad coverage. Even still, coverage with insurance companies is ever changing! Lisa belongs to:
College of Registered Manual Osteopaths ~ CRMO
College of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners of Ontario ~ COMPO
National Canadian Association of Alternative Medicine ~ ACMA
College of Canadian Osteopaths ~ CCO
Direct billing is available for many insurance companies.
